The AI is not your archive.
It is a way to work with it.
A general AI can know an extraordinary amount about the world.
It does not automatically know why a particular letter matters to you.
Or which version of a document was finally approved.
Or who “Uncle Sasha” is in thirty years of photographs.
Or what you decided about a project six months ago.
Synapse works with the context available to it inside Heliarko.
You can use it to:

- “Show me the photographs, notes and receipts from that project.”

- “Summarise what changed between these two versions.”

- “Turn these notes into a clear letter.”
- Remember
- “What did I write about our trip in 2004?”

- “Compare these ideas and tell me where they contradict each other.”
The point is not to give AI your life and let it decide what matters.
The point is to give you a better way to work with what you already know and keep.
Heliarko is designed around a local Capsule stored on storage you control.
Some intelligence functions may use an external online service.
These are not the same operation.
When an online service is involved, that boundary should be visible and understandable.
The public website must not claim more than the current 1.0.21 implementation can prove.
You ask:
“Find everything I saved about our 2004 trip and make a short timeline.”

The human still decides what matters.
- Before the first question
- You choose what Synapse may use: the conversation and its attachments, your Workspace, or the whole Capsule with the archive read-only.
- Where a question goes
- Through Heliarko’s server to our AI provider, Nebius, in Finland. It needs the internet.
- Your originals
- The AI cannot change the originals in your archive.
- Memory
- It keeps dated extracts of your conversations in Documents › AI Memory, where you can read, edit or delete them, or switch them off. You decide whether the online AI may use them in other conversations.
- Results
- What it prepares for you can be saved to your Workspace.
- Without the internet
- Search by meaning and the rest of the Capsule keep working.
